Some of the blooms that do not mature to turn into Iranian exotic fruit of pomegranate are being harvested for medicinal and cosmetic purposes.
The pomegranate, a tree native to Iran and India, is accustomed to hot, dry conditions; therefore, it easily tolerates the temperature situation of Arsanjan City in Fars Province.
The plant is both grown for its delicious fruit and the stunning bright red flowers on pomegranate trees.
The trees are self-fruitful, which means the flowers on the pomegranate are both male and female. The pollination takes place with the assistance of insects and hummingbirds from flower to flower.
Some of the flowers are merely male, so that they will not come to fruition and they fall off the trees.
